Little Red River - Fishing & River Report

Friday August 28, 2010

The water levels on The Little Red River change daily due the 2 turbine generators on the Greers Ferry Dam, that the Corps of Engineers operate to made hydroelectric power. The water level will rise about 4 feet vertically with each generator, making wade fishing only possible along the edges in just a few places. For the current water levels, call the Greers Ferry Powerhouse (501) 362-5150. The recorded message is a report of current turbine generator operation not a forecast of future schedules.

Hatches
Midges are coming off really well. BWO's are hatching.  Perfect weather!

Fly Patterns
Pheasant Tails, Sow Bugs, Scuds, Copper Johns, WD 40, 56ers, Woolly Buggers, Hares Ear, Red Ass, Midges, Clousers, Elk Hair caddis, BWO.

14 Day Forecast
Greers Ferry is now 5 feet under pool.  Fishing has been excellent! I could not ask for a better weekend coming up.  The weather is only going to be up to the low 90's.  The fishing has been out of this world.  The generation is staring around 2 lately and going until about 6 or 7.  This is a great summer pattern.
I went fishing with Jeff and we had a ball.  For the first time I did not catch one fish on a sow bug.  We caught plenty of fish on pheasant tails, copper johns, woolly buggers, Hares ears and had a blast!

Other Information

Have fun this weekend!!!!
