River Levels
The water levels on The Little Red River change daily due the 2 turbine generators on the Greers Ferry Dam, that the Corps of Engineers operate to made hydroelectric power. The water level will rise about 4 feet vertically with each generator, making wade fishing only possible along the edges in just a few places. For the current water levels, call the Greers Ferry Powerhouse (501) 362-5150. The recorded message is a report of current turbine generator operation not a forecast of future schedules.
Hatches
Midges are coming off really well. Especially at the dam.
Fly Patterns
Big streamers and heavy nymphs. When generation stops Sow Bugs, Scuds, Copper Johns, WD 40, 56ers, Woolly Buggers, Hares Ear, PT's, Red Ass, Midges, Clousers etc...
14 Day Forecast
Greers Ferry is right at power pool. As I type this it is raining. It looks like Heber Springs is getting between an inch to 1 1/2 inches currently. This usually equates to 1 foot of water in the lake. Hopefully the plants will soak up some of this water and it will not all go into the lake. We will no more in the next couple of days. This weekend still shows a ton of promise as being another great weekend. Not much rain projected for the next 7 days which is a great sign heading into spring.
