The Legendary Little Red River

Home of the world-record holding brown trout (40 lb., 4 oz), the Little Red River is the premier trout fishing destination in the US. With 29 miles of fly-fishing water and over 1,000 fish/square mile thanks to the Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, you're bound to leave with a good time and plenty of trout in tow.

Access to the Little Red River can be found in several places and water levels vary based on energy usage levels in the area. Expect water levels to fall on weekends and flow rates to range based on the Greers Ferry Dam power generators. Generally, you can expect flows to remain lower in the fall and high during spring. During higher months, our guides suggest drifting and/or working  the banks of the river as opposed to wading – a quick call to our front desks will provide you suggestions, insights, fishing guide opportunities and more.

Overall, the Little Red River is a great space to visit year-round. With tons of access, few restrictions, and the great town of Heber Springs nearby, it's a must-visit for anglers of all ages, all over.
